Statistics show that the entertainer carries 75%-80% of  the responsibilities at the average wedding reception. Many couples say 80%-90% of the success of their reception is based on the DJ. Yet only 5% of the budget is spent on entertainment.

A full time professional entertainer needs to charge a professional rate. There are many expenses that go into running a legitimate disc jockey business: equipment, advertising, liability insurance, a legal music library, transportation and more. A Pro DJ will charge more for a wedding due to the amount of preparation that goes into the event. I would caution anyone who is shopping on price alone to be leery of low prices. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
